After being diagnosed with endometriosis at the age of 14, studying gynecological diseases became Nina's life project. She aims to become a pediatric gynecologist to help young women who are going through what she went through. Michigan State University medical student, Cristina Perez is joining the Chandler lab.

Asked to introduce herself, Cristina shared, "Hello Everyone!  My name is Cristina Perez and I am a third year medical student at MSU CHM (Michigan State University College of Human Medicine).I grew up in Grand Haven, MI and have been in Michigan ever since. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience. I have been involved in both clinical and lab research in the past.  During this past summer I worked in a research lab at Stanford University, where my main focus was trying to identify and understand the role of Nemo-like Kinase in various cancers. Aside from school and research, I enjoy running and training for marathons, traveling, and keeping up with the latest food scene. I am excited to be a part of this lab and am looking forward to getting to know all of you!"

Cristina will be doing double-duty: clinical rotations for medical school at Spectrum Health and research experiments in the lab when her schedule allows. We are pleased that Cristina has chosen to join us!
